The idea was initiated for the LSM 2005, at Dijon, by the group Plug'n'Politix.

The original idea could be connected at a against LSM, but its differences compared to the aim and the public concerned make that the Nocturnes became an appreciated complement of the LSM.

The principle is quite simple: in addition to the events of the day, a off is proposed in evening, complement of the official program.

If the LSM link the public with a “politically correct” idea, the Nocturnes want to highlight the policy of the Free Software, and on the free culture, which goes well beyond the code. This year the Nocturnes will be at the Achille’s Scierie, a repetition and representation place for the theater world, and it is the occasion to reinforce the bonds between the culture of the Free community and the “recognized” culture that are the theater, the musics, etc

The LSM is about Free Software, “off” of the LSM is about the “off” of the Free Software.

Initially envisaged in the “Briqueterie”, the Nocturnes will take place

from Monday July 9, 2007 at the evening until the morning of Saturday July 14, 2007 to cleanup, at

• the Scierie d’Achille, 20 street Béranger, 80000 Amiens

The Scierie is located at fifteen minutes (if you walk) of the center town, approximately twenty minutes of the main places of the LSM.

The interior of the Scierie d’Achille, of course all will be tuned for the occasion

Every night, different animations, but with the same bases :

• free broadband access (powered by FDN)
• electricity
• and some visual, musical and material comfort (music, conferences and settee).

The Meetings will take place in the town center, at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computing situated in “rue Saint Leu”. Most hotels are situated in the town center.They are nearby and you are not obliged to drive your car.

• Camping sites

Amiens is equipped with a camping site which is situated at about 5 kilometers from the place of the Meeting. It is accessible by walk or by bike, by taking a path called “le chemin de halage” which follows the river la Somme.
